Davinder Kaur
Hi, my name is Davinder Kaur, I'm 28 years old and I work in the Food Rights team at ActionAid UK.
The Food Rights department works to ensure food security for poor people in developing countries. We focus on corporate regulation (making sure big companies do not behave badly in developing countries) trade justice and more and better aid for some of the poorest countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
I have been at ActionAid for 4 years and in my spare time I enjoy going to the cinema, travelling and listenting to music!

Q: [from Rhianna and Isabelle] Do you like your job?
A: Yes, it’s challenging, I get to meet many people from all over the world and there are many issues to raise awareness about. The food rights team campaigns on the unfair trade rules and corporate accountability.
Q: [from Shannon and Tegan] Hi Davinder we would like to know about India. Can you tell us all you know about India?
A: India is a big country with many languages and almost a billion people so unfortunately it would be impossible to provide you with all the information you need. My family are from Punjab, in the North which is always a fun and exciting place for me to visit. You can find out about the work that ActionAid is doing in India by visiting www.actionaidindia.org.
Q: [from Feona] Hi Davinder I am doing a school project on Action Aid and I want to know how the organization provides aid?
A: ActionAid works with partner organisations in Africa, Asia and South America – so much of our funding is funnelled through those organisations. We have prioritised five areas of work where we can make the most difference: education, hiv/aids, food, emergencies, women and girls. ActionAid works with over 2000 partner organisations, ranging from small community groups to alliances and international networks.
