MEN AT WORK

There are more than 300,000 weavers in Orissa. The Meher family do most of the weaving in Khalipathar. First, they die the thread and weave it into saris and warm shawls called Ikat. Then they sell them in Balangir market.

There is one barbers shop in Khalipathar. People go here for hair-cuts and Indian head massages. This is a special skill, so don't try it at home!

Many people work on the land. This man is breaking up the soil so that he can plant new paddy seeds for next year's harvest.
