Khalipathar village has two main areas. The centre, or 'basti', and the outer area or 'pada'.

The temple is in the village 'basti' and most roads lead to this. The richer people who own the land tend to live in this area. It is near to the wells, pond and paddy fields.

The poorest people live in the 'pada' area. There is no temple here and not many trees. Most of the people from this area have to go to the brick-kilns to earn a living in the winter.
