Real lives Marta de Auchachi is president of the textiles group. "I've been overall president for one year. My job is to visit the six centres and to check the organisation of the groups and to sort out any problems. The textiles project has been especially valuable for women whose husbands migrate. Their husbands send them some money, but usually it isn't enough. The project gives them another source of income to look after their families. Before the project women in Calcha didn't meet each other very often. Now they really look forward to the weekly meetings and are starting to discuss all sorts of issues such as family planning and rights to education."
